Leonardo tiltrotor completes First Flight. Mare Group’s engineering on critical systems.

In Rome, during the Horizon Europe European Partnerships Infoday dedicated to Call 4 of the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking, Mare Group presented the progress of Leonardo Helicopters’ NGCTR-TD programme, which achieved the “First Flight” milestone on 25 February, following validation by Clean Aviation and EASA.

The Group has been involved in the project since 2016 through four European consortia, with a total budget of €33 million out of the programme’s overall €130 million.
Mare Group’s activities focused on the rotating wing, movable surfaces, fuel storage system, engine mount structure and flight controls.
Luigi Di Palma, Managing Director of Mare Group, outlined the company’s contribution within Clean Sky 2 and the opportunities offered by Clean Aviation, highlighting the role of mid-cap companies in managing complex projects and supporting the transition of technologies towards industrial maturity.
